Ipamorelin is a synthetic growth hormone secretagogue, a peptide that stimulates the body to increase the natural production of growth hormone. Growth hormone (GH) is produced and released by the pituitary gland. Ipamorelin increases the production of this natural growth hormone in two different ways. First, the peptide amplifies the natural growth hormone release signal. This leads to an increase in growth hormone secretion. Second, it inhibits a hormone called somatostatin, also known as growth hormone inhibitory hormone (GHIH). Somatostatin causes the body to reduce its natural growth hormone output. Unlike GHRP-6 and GHRP-2, Ipamorelin had no effect on auxin levels in vivo. Because Ipamorelin stimulates the body to produce growth hormone, the production of natural growth hormone does not stop like synthetic human growth hormone. This results in fewer side effects than synthetic hGH.
